The theory of high-mass star formation predicts specific features, namely, the formation of near-equal binary systems, radiative Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities, and bloated photospheres. The goals of this project are to use cutting-edge facilities such as the VLT, ALMA, JWST, and VLTI-GRAVITY to observationally zoom-in on the nearest targets and examine them at scales of a few hundred AU, as well as to test/confront theoretical scenarios.
